Free motion Quilting

Earlier in the year I was treated to a class with the amazing Kim Bradley.Kim is an amazing artist who draws not with a pencil but with her sewing machine. Her free motion quilting is so smooth and accurate you would almost think that a machine has done it.She is someone that I look up to and admire and if I was only half as good as her I would be over the moon.

Above is the free motion piece that I have just recently completed. It is entirely free motioned and every outline is stitched. The entire background is stippled.

This piece now hangs in Sofia's room and in the dark the opal dust catches the light that sneaks in through her bedroom door.

After I had finished quilting it I then colored it with a combination of water soluble pencils and pastels. It is fully washable and permanent as textile medium was used in this process.I already have another project in mind and cant wait to get started.
