My little ray of sunshine

And then the rain came...

So we are finally at our "new" house. After a difficult move and some battered bodies we where hoping for smooth sailing.On the day of the move the rain arrived and has stuck around ever since bringing all sorts of problems.From wet washing that never drys that turns that icky smell to almost 400mm of torrential rain that fell in one night.We have never had so much rain in 24 hours for over ten years.All roads leading off the mountain where swallowed by rain and cars,horses and boats washed away.The morning after the storm we arrived to a laundry drenched in over 10 cm off water. The garage also came off second best with a flood of muddy water washing through it and destroying most of our furniture.The worst part is that up on the mountain the weather gets so hot and humid that anything that gets wet and stays wet will soon have an unpleasant tinge of green to it.

 

Our now dirty soggy mattresses.Just a couple of things that have been ruined.

Renovations on the other hand have been a little slower than expected and our pockets are emptying a little faster than we would like.So far we have demolished the bathroom and replaced it with a small room for Sofia to sleep in.Most of the walls upstairs have a new coat of paint.We have chosen a color called whisper white and advised that all of our trims should be the same color.Apparently this is the new modern way of doing things and so far I would have to say that I'm thrilled with the results.Having the same color throughout the walls and trims has opened up the space. 

 

Taking out a little frustration on the bathroom.We had to stop after noise complaints from the neighbor.Not a good way to make new friends.

  

And replacing it with a little room for Sofia.Gotta love those bright banana trims!

  

Opening up the kitchen and dining area

My Mum is flying over from New Zealand to give us a hand and to get things in a more livable state.I'm off to pick her up this afternoon but I think shes going to be rather shocked to see the house in such a state,sorry Mum. Its going to be blow up mattresses and diners on the floor for a while.

We are looking forward to the finishing touches on the upstairs part of the house and the new carpet is arriving on Thursday.After that we we have somewhere clean and comfrtable to live untill downstairs is finished.

Cant wait to show you all the before and after pictures.

Update

Well it has again been a while since my last post so I thought I would put in an update.

Things have still been very busy since Xmas and I still feel like I haven't caught my breathe yet. I have been busy finding new tenants for our rented home as we are about to move into our own house this weekend. As you can imagine all I have been doing is packing and planning for the big move.Our little house is in a wonderful spot,just a minutes walk to all the cute crafty shops and good coffee but it is defiantly a case of "worst house in the best street". So bad is our new home that we have to move into the garage until we get things sorted out. Renovations include a new kitchen,a new bathroom,removing the upstairs bathroom,knocking out walls,painting,carpet,new plumbing,garden makeover,replace the deck.........so I will make sure I put up lots of before and after photos for you.

Good news is that I have started sewing again and already I am accumulating a pile a lovely Kimonos, wraps, bloomers and pants and I will also make plenty more dolls.I wasn't planning on making anything for a while but I found the most gorgeous fabric range and I just couldn't wait to make some items from it.Its been a long time since I've found material that's inspired me to sew.I now have to adjust to less sleep becuase every time I sit and sew in the evening I get on this wierd mini high and cant get to sleep untill midnight. It feels great to have the spark back.

I am still keen on photography and have been taking some lovely pictures over Xmas.Just recently I took my four little cousins to dreamworld and managed to get some great pictures.Im still grasping photoshop but I feel that its all starting to make sense now.

Ive actually just finished some cute pantaloons for Sofia and some lounge pants for my friends son which are looking great but again I'm on my little high and cant get to sleep.Perhaps a nice chamomile tea will do the trick? Goodnight for now ( ;

Happy Holidays

Well firstly I must apologize for my lack of posts.The last few months of this year have been rather difficult.The  problems with my neck pain peeked at the wrong time and I can now officially say that I have had chronic neck pain for a year! worst of all though is that know one seems to know what is causing it.So as you could imagine it has impacted on almost everything in my life which at the moment is a lot.So in desperation for relief I was given Codeine with no effect and then Valium and just recently morphine.I have only just recovered from the side effects of morphine which left me vomiting for four days in between constant sleep.So for now I am sticking to panadole and will be looking forward to my C.T scan in the new year.As all this was going on we managed to purchase a little house on the mountain.Its a lot of work but it has lots of potential and the position is perfect.The garage will become my studio so at last I will have some decent space.My etsy shop is now on vacation and I would imagine it will stay that way until at least mid February.I have a feeling that next year will be a very productive year with the new house,etsy and I will be studying digitizing so I can teach it at work and hopefuly if Im good enough, digitize some of of my own embroidery designs to be sewn out on the sewing machine.

So next year it will be a mixed bag of posts including-photoshop,photography,renovation before and after pictures,crafting,digitizing and my every day life.Hope to see you all again in the new year.Wishing you all Love,Health and happiness x

If your a fan of photoshop then you will fall in love with these eyelash brushes from obsidian dawn.Not only can you down load loads of extra brushes but they also have heaps of neat backgrounds as well.

I tested the brushes out on my own eyes and even being a novice I found them very simple to use as they also come with instructions.Happy holidays xx

O.k so I'll admit it. I am now officially a "twilight addict".Ive watched twilight so many times Ive lost count...Maybe 6 or seven times and new moon three times.I hum twilight tunes in my head constantly and as you can see I have cullenized a photo of myself.The last time I was this obsessed with a movie series was the lord of the rings.I reckon I have a thing for fantasy movies. I like to feel myself getting taken away into another world.
